Tell me about yourself
My name is Binh and I am from Thai Binh Province (just like my name). I have a beautiful and very young wife. I am very lucky as she is 8 years younger than me!
What is your favourite food?
I love spring rolls! They are easy to eat and they can be filled with prawns, pork, vegetables or whatever you want.
How long have you been a SpiceRoads Guide?
I started as a SpiceRoads guide in 2004 so I have lots of experience.
What made you get into cycling?
I started riding when I was a little boy and used to ride my bicycle to school. My brothers also had bicycles but they didn’t love to cycle as much as me. I was always riding everywhere – into town, to my friends’ houses, or just for the fun of it. After I left school I went to university to study tourism and then started working as a guide straight away!
What do you like to do when you are not tour guiding?
When I am not guiding I like to go biking! I’ve always wanted to work in tourism, one day I would like to manage a team in the office and build tours. I also like children and would like to teach English to school children. Teaching is a very respectable job here in Vietnam.
Do you have a tour that you like the best?
All tours have their own beauty. The longest tour we have in Vietnam, Saigon to Hanoi, gets you to see everything. However, if you don’t have much time the Red River Delta Tour is a great way to explore various beautiful areas around Hanoi.
What is your favourite place in Vietnam?
North Sapa is beautiful. There are also good roads for cycling and interesting tribal groups in bright clothing to visit.
Why do you think people should come to Vietnam?
Vietnam has a unique landscape and is filled with lots of local hidden charms. There is also a lot of culture and history to get absorbed in along with many places not yet spoilt by tourism.
